Video analysis

This is the theatrical trailer for the 1999 film 'the Sixth Sense' starring Bruce Willis, Haley Joel Osment and Toni Colette.

Genre: the genre for this film is mainly psychological, supernatural thriller with some element of horror included too.

Audience: the target audience for this film is most probably teenagers and adults (13 - 50) who enjoy being thrilled by scary films. Also, Bruce Willis is a very well known actor so another part of the audience may be fans of Bruce Willis and his work. Furthermore this movie could evoke interest in people who are interested in the supernatural world. The gender percentage I think would be 50/50 for both males and females because there is no element of the movie aiming to please a specific gender.

Platform: there are many ways that people are able to view this movie including: the TV, DVD, movie sites (which tend to be illegal), the cinema (both the trailer and the full length film) and also, recently, I found the movie on youtube, so that is another way of accessing it.

This is the music video to 5 Seconds of Summer's 'She Looks So Perfect' released in March 2014.

Genre: The genre of this media text is clearly a music video and it features electric guitars, suggesting that the music is of the pop/rock genre.

Audience: I think the audience of this video would definitely be young teenage girls or pre-teen girls with the age range of 11 - 18 years old. I can hardly imagine males enjoying this kind of genre of music, especially when the majority of the lyrics are about how perfect a girl is in the boy's mind, e.g. "You look so perfect standing there, in my American Apparel underwear" and I hardly think they're singing about a boy. Therefore, I am of the opinion that the majority of people listening to this music, and watching this music video will be young, teenage girls.

Platform: Ways you can watch this video include via YouTube on devices such as mobile phones, laptops, and TV on music channels.

This is a video showing the front seat point of view on the Green Lantern roller coaster in Six Flags adventure park, New Jersey.

Genre: the genre of this video is entertainment and also it's advertising this roller coaster from the front seat point of view.

Audience: the main audience I think that would be watching this is people who are trying to find good roller coasters in good theme parks where they can go. Also, thrill seekers who enjoy the thrill of roller coasters who just want a virtual experience without going to the actual place. The gender I think is equally male and female, with the age range of 10 - 45 because you have to take into account the fact that middle aged people may have health problems that may restrict them from boarding this kind of roller coaster.

Platform: the ways you can watch this video are primarily on YouTube on any electrical device such as smartphones, tablets, computers etc. But the full experience is available at the place where it is being advertised from. Six Flags adventure park, New Jersey.
